When we talk of Army,The first thing that comes in our mind is Guns.These projectile firing Metal objects have been with us since 1000 AD.

Usage : Standard Issue Service pistol

Type : Semi-automatic Pistol

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 9×19mm

Derived from : Browning Hi-Power

Replacement :    None

2. SAF Carbine 1A/2A1

Usage : Standard Issue Sub Machine Gun

Type : Sub-machine Gun

Status : Inducted and will be Replaced

Caliber : 9×19mm

Derived from : Sterling Sub-machine gun

Replacement : Modern Sub Machine Carbine

3. INSAS Assault Rifle

 

Usage : Standard issue assault rifle

Type : Assault Rifle

Status : Inducted and to be Replaced

Caliber : 5.56×45mm NATO

Derived from : AKM, FN FAL, HK33, Steyr AUG, IMI Galil

Replacement : Will be replaced by a INSAS Excalibur or MCIWS

Usage : Standard Issue bolt-action Sniper rifle

Type : Sniper Rifle

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 7.62×51mm NATO

Derived from : Mauser Model 66

Replacement : None

5. Vidhw ansak Anti Material Rifle

Usage : Used for long range sniping and Anti-Material Role

Type : Anti Material Rifle

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 14.5×114mm, 12.7×108mm, 20x82mm

Derived from :  Denel NTW-20

Replacement : None

6. AKM Assault Rifle

Usage : mainly Used in CT (Counter Terrorism) Operations.

Type : Assault Rifle

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 7.62×39mm M43

Derived from : AK-47

Replacement : None

7. Dragunov SVD59

Usage : Standard issue Designated Marksman rifle (DMR)

Type : Sniper Rifle

Status : Inducted and to be Replaced

Caliber : 7.62×54mmR

Derived from : none

Replacement : To be replaced by a 7.62mm NATO DMR under the Army modernization plan.

8. Heckler & Koch PSG1

Usage : Standard Issue Semi-automatic Sniper rifle

Type : Sniper Rifle

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 7.62×51mm NATO

Derived from : Mechanically derived from Heckler & Koch G3 Battle Rifle

Replacement : None

9. INSAS LMG (Light Machine Gun)

Usage : Standard Issue Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW)

Type : Light machine Gun

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 5.56×45mm NATO

Derived from : INSAS Assault Rifle

Replacement : None

10. Gun Machine 7.62 MM ‘1B’

Usage : Standard Issue Light machine gun

Type : Light machine Gun

Status : Inducted

Caliber : 7.62×51mm NATO

Derived from : Bren light machine gun

Replacement : None
