Pakistan and Turkey are in talks for Islamabad to purchase T129 attack helicopters co-developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, a move officials from both countries said would strengthen defense ties between the two, the Anadolu news agency reported Friday.
The news came as the newly appointed Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Isik and Khawaja Muhammad Asif, his Pakistani counterpart, met in Islamabad for talks.
Isik called a deal for the multi-role helicopter one of the most important issues between the countries.
Isik also said plans were in the works for Turkey to purchase the Pakistani-made Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.
Plans were also discussed for Turkey to help Pakistan’s navy modernize its three Agosta-class submarines, the Anadolu report states.
