13 Indian Army Soldiers Are Participating At The Rio Olympics And We are very proud of them

You would probably know that 65 male and 54 female Indian athletes will fight it out for the gold medal at the Rio Olympics this year. But what you wouldn’t know is that 13 Indian Army soldiers are a part of this contingent. This is the highest number of athletes sent to compete at the Olympics from the Indian military forces.

12 army men were a part of the Indian Olympics contingent at the 2012 London Olympics. This year, a total of 15 men qualified but only 13 could make it to Rio, because of the limited slots. Out of 13, eight men will be competing in athletics, 3 in shooting and one each in rowing and wrestling. Another thing that would surprise you is the world class training provided to these athletes by the Army. The training’s excessively scientific and just as much mental as it’s physical. Indian Army’s Boys Sports Company (BSC) is the wing of the military that recruits the best talents form the forces and nurtures them to be world class athletes. Be it whatever, the Indian Army always make us proud!
