IAF sergeant, brother held with 60kg poppy husk

Jhajjar police on Sunday arrested two brothers, including an Indian Air Force sergeant, with 60kg poppy husk at a naka on Sonipat-Jhajjar border.
According to police, Sergeant Jagdeep Singh, who is posted at Faridabad, and his brother Parvinder are from Farmana village in Sonipat district. Parvinder, who was driving the car, tried to break the barricade when signalled to stop by a crime investigation agency (CIA) team. However, the duo was overpowered and found carrying two sacks of high quality poppy husk, weighing 58.2kg.

Their interrogation revealed that Parvinder has been into drug business for the past few years and the entire consignment was meant for Farmana. Police have informed the air force authorities about the arrest.

“We have got some leads during their interrogation and are hopeful of making more such seizures. Both Jagdeep and Parvinder were produced before the duty magistrate and remanded in judicial custody,” said SSP Randhawa.
