However, it is not that everyone gets a chance to fly those fighter planes and obliterate enemies of the nation. Then, the desire remains unquenched and every time you see a combat pilot, you wonder why you didn’t pursued your dreams. But, now all of those who ever wanted to be an air combat warrior can feel the thrill of flying combat planes and destroy enemies of the nation can fly and fullfill their childhood dream.



Indian Air Force had launched its official mobile game for Android,Windows and iOS. Guardians of the Skies is a 3D combat game you can play over your phones, tablets and phablets. It is a campaign based highly graphic rich and fluid game that will keep you engrossed and engaged as air combat fighter who flies ultra modern combat planes and put an end to enemies of India. The game supports motion sensor and touch controls for a more realistic approach.

The game was developed by a private vendor for the IAF and features a storyline where the IAF is engaged in defense missions against a fictitious nation named ‘Zaruzia’, which is a politically and economically unstable country and has witnessed a military coup. The game showcases the air force in a virtual format and has air combat scenarios and realistic graphics.

The 3D game was launched by Air Marshal S. Sukumar who stated that the game was a significant milestone in encouraging youth to join IAF. “It is indeed a significant milestone in our consorted campaign to connect to the best of the boys and the girls among the nation’s youth and motivate them to join the air force so as to become great patriotic men and women ready to serve the country in any situation,” he said. “We are getting the numbers, but we want to attract the best of the boys and the girls to join the Air Force,” said Air Marshal Sukumar, who is also the Air Officer-in-charge Personnel.



“The game is targeted at the youth, to give them the feel of the excitement that we in the Air Force experience everyday in our lives,” he said, adding “Only the information (of IAF) available in public domain has been utilized in the development of the game.”

He added that the Air Force needs better human resources along with modern technology.

“Indian Air Force is on a trajectory of modernisation and is transforming itself so as to meet the security challenges which are multi-dimensional in nature that the country faces in the future years,” Sukumar told reporters.

“As we induct modern equipment and enhance our capabilities we are very conscious of the fact that any success in any future conflict will be determined most by the quality of the human resource that we have,” he said.

On 4 June, YouTube channel “Guardians- Indian Air Force” had posted the teaser for the game, which consists of a training mission and two operational missions, under the title, “‘Guardians of the Skies’ – IAF Mobile Game Teaser”, which found over 64,535 views.



In the game, the player undergoes flying training and subsequently gets engaged in combat missions in various aircraft types of the IAF fighters, transport and helicopter fleet.

The game received an enthusiastic response from gamers in the age group of 15-25 years and has been acclaimed for its realistic graphics and game play.

The game has won the prestigious ‘Best Indian Game’ award from Microsoft on its windows application store, proving its popularity among gamers.

With over a million downloads the game is popular among Indian Youths who appreciate its graphics and low hardware requirements making it almost playable in all current smart phone.
