Two suspicious Pakistani boats have left Karachi port and are on their way either to Gujarat or Maharashtra coast, intelligence agencies have warned.

The Indian Navy and the Coast Guard have been alerted about the movement of the two vessels, a day after a Pakistani boat was intercepted off the Gujarat coast on Sunday.

The intelligence input, which has given the latitude and longitude of the boats, mentions that one of the boats has developed technical snag and is holed up in Pakistani waters.

The other boat is currently holding its position near the other.

The sighting of the two boats comes a day after Coast Guard on Sunday apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members, who were taken to Porbandar for investigation.

India on high alert

India is on high alert after intelligence inputs on possible attacks by Pakistan-based terror groups in the country in retaliation to the Indian Army’s surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control.

In an advisory to states, the Home Ministry last week said additional forces should be deployed in all sensitive places, strategic installations, markets, religious places and other key places, especially in the metros, to ensure security during the festive season.

The border states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat are on alert following reports that some terrorists might have crossed over to India during last one month and could retaliate in view of the surgical strikes.

The Indian Army’s surgical strikes were carried out early Thursday across the Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on eight launch pads, killing nearly 50 suspected infiltrators.

The strike came 10 days after the Uri terror attack on September 18, which killed 19 Indian soldiers. India has blamed Pakistan militants for the Uri attack.
