The Indian army on Sunday thanked the local youth for rescuing soldiers stuck in an accident vehicle near the Pantha Chowk in Srinagar.
The thank you note came in form of a tweet from the official account of the Northern Command of the Indian Army. Earlier today, a youth rescued an Indian soldier trapped inside a broken vehicle, that had been in an accident on the Srinagar Bypass road near the Lasjan area of the city. The vehicle had steered off the road after the driver lost control and hit a tree.
Police reported that a soldier had been trapped inside the badly mangled vehicle and the rescue efforts by other army men were not yielding any results. The youth then rushed to the spot and pulled out the jawan of the vehicle by placing a truck next to it.
Passerbys were seen filming the entire incident on their mobile phones. The video of the incident has been widely shared on ‘youtube’ and other social networking sites. The incident comes amidst the ongoing unrest which has claimed 84 lives and thousands of others injured in clashes between protestors and security forces.

This incident comes as a ray of hope when clashes between army men and protesters in the valley have already resulted in the death of nearly a 100 people and blinded many others. The protests in the region started following the killing of Burhan Wani, which saw a curfew period of two months in the region.
Here is the Video from that incident –
