Six terrorists attack BSF post in Samba, India retaliates

An armed terrorist, along with five others, attacked a BSF post along the international border on the Indian side and was injured after BSF troops foiled the infiltration bid in Samba sector.

Official sources said that the attack took place at around 1.55 am, when a group of six terrorists, taking advantage of undulating ground and thick wild growth on Pakistan side, reached close to the international border at Bobiyan and fired on a BSF post with automatic weapons. They also fire two RPG shells over it with points.

The BSF troops located the terrorists in wild growth and immediately organised a “coordinated fire” forcing the terrorists to return to the Pakistan side. The area was illuminated with the firing of an illumination bomb and BSF troops saw the fleeing terrorists carrying an injured person, sources added.

There was semi-automatic fire reportedly exchanged between Border Observatory Post Bobiya, manned by 173 Battalion BSF, and Pakistan post Chak Timber manned by 24 battalion Pak Rangers. The exchange of fire took place from 1105 hours till 1205 hours.

Ever since India carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control causing sufficient damage to terrorists and those shielding them last month, this has been the first incident of terrorists attacking a BSF naka along the international border in a bid to sneak into the Indian side.
