Indian Army retaliates after civilian deaths: 2 Pakistani jawans killed, 14 posts damaged

After eight civilians were killed today in an indiscriminate shelling by Pakistan Rangers along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army retaliated inflicting heaving damages on the Pakistani posts. Two Pakistani posts too were killed in the retaliatory fire by Indian Army.

Pakistan troops violated ceasefire in Samba and Nowshera sector.

16-year-old girl, Rosy, was killed in Jerda village of the district after she was hit by a mortar splinter.

The police said Pakistan Rangers indiscriminately targeted civilian areas and defence facilities in the Ramgarh sector.

“Pakistani Rangers started firing with small arms followed by mortars at one place and further spread to four or five places in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Samba and Jammu district from 0630 hours,” DIG BSF (G) Dharmendra Pareek said.

They fired 82 mm mortar bombs intermittently, Pareek said, adding, BSF gave them a befitting reply.

The spokesperson said hundreds of residents were forced to abandon their homes in the Samba district along the International Border (IB). They used every mode of conveyance, even walked barefoot, to escape from the line of fire.

Dozens of cattle were reportedly killed or injured in the shelling.

Locals are worried about their harvest-ready ripe crops.

The Pakistan Army also resorted to heavy shelling and firing at Indian positions in Naushera sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

 

There have been more that 60 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the LoC and IB in the state since surgical strikes against terror launch pads by the Indian Army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

ENCOUNTER IN BANDIPORA

Meanwhile, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Bandipora area of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Three suspected Lashkar terrorists are holding up in Ajar village in Bandipora.

Search operations are underway and the entire area has been cordoned off.

On Monday, an elderly woman and a soldier were killed and a girl and two armymen were injured in cross-LoC shelling and firing by Pakistani troops in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
