What Is The Official Flower Of Fauji Kids? This question was asked to Lt Col Sandeep Ahlawat by his 13-Year-Old Son and he gave him the same answer that Lt Col. Ahlawat’s father had given him.
My Son:- when will we settle down in one place?
Me:- Settle? I don’t think I ever fully unpacked in my life!
And then I went on to explain to him the characteristics of a Dandelion flower!!

The Official Flower of The Indian Fauji kid is The Dandelion. If You are Wondering Why? Read On
Dandelion puts down roots almost anywhere and it is almost impossible to destroy it (fauji kids adapt and mould themselves to the new surroundings every 24 months without buckling under any kind of peer pressure hence they are out and out fighters). It is an unpretentious plant and yet good looking just as the fauji kids are well groomed and cultured. Dandelion survives in a broad range of climates just like fauji brats survive and thrive in most inhospitable stations.
Fauji kids bloom everywhere the winds carry them (imagine doing your schooling from 1st to 12th standard from six different schools) They are hardy and upright. Their roots are strong and have been cultivated deeply in the culture of the military. They’re ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands, and new friends.
Fauji kids are well-rounded, culturally aware, tolerant, and extremely resilient. Military children have learned from an early age that home is where their hearts are, that a good friend can be found in every corner of the world and that education doesn’t only come from school. They live history. They handle distress of long separation from their father with finesse.

They stand by their mothers, they pick themselves up (and that too all by themselves) every time they are down!! Because They are ever “out”…They learn that to survive means to adapt, that the door that closes one chapter of their life opens up to a new and exciting adventure full of new friends and new experiences.”
